A well done history of western philosophy from the Enlightenment through 19th and 20th century movements up through contemporary postmodernism. This book is short, highly informed, and accessible.

 

Review - Star Trek

  The Star Trek movie that was just released was what the Star Wars prequels should have been -- story, story, story! It didn't get bogged down in all the glitzy computer graphics (though the sky-diving scenes were unreal). It didn't throw in a new alien at every corner. It focused on character depth and script (as all good movies--especially sci fi/superhero films do), and it was a crushing success.
