    In the mid 1990s, the funk rock band Rage Against the Machine took their lyrics pretty seriously. Not only did they sing about fighting for the exploited, their lead singer Zach de la Roche consistently left his rock star lifestyle to physically supporting an armed revolutionary group in one of the poorest states in Mexico.
